Basilic Fly Studio recently had the privilege of hosting an industrial visit by final-year Visual Communication (VISCOM) students from Patrician College, accompanied by their faculty members. A total of 28 participants visited our studio to gain practical exposure to the VFX industry, understand current market trends, and explore the role of AI in modern visual effects workflows.
The visit commenced with a warm welcome and an energetic introductory session led by our HR Manager, Mr. Dinesh Kumar. He introduced the students to Basilic Fly Studio’s work environment, values, and professional culture, setting the stage for an engaging and interactive learning experience.
The session was then carried forward by our Head of Studio, Mr. Amir Shahinsha, who delivered a detailed and insightful presentation. He shared an overview of Basilic Fly Studio’s journey, our positioning in the VFX industry, and the end-to-end VFX services we offer. The presentation also included a clear explanation of each department and its role within the overall production ecosystem, helping students understand how large-scale VFX projects are executed collaboratively.
The interaction-driven session encouraged students to ask questions and actively participate, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of professional VFX pipelines and inter-departmental workflows.
To further enrich the learning experience, department-wise showreels were screened during the session. These reels generated strong enthusiasm among the students, who were keen to understand real-world production quality, creative processes, and technical standards. Several doubts and queries related to the showreels were discussed and clarified, making the session both informative and inspiring.
Later, our Head of Production, Mr. Anbukumaran Dakshinamoorthy, shared valuable insights into our production pipeline setup, project execution strategies, and workflow management. This was followed by presentations from department heads, who explained how their respective teams function, the tools they use, their responsibilities, and the expectations of the industry.
The visit concluded with a guided studio tour, during which students visited each department in person and interacted directly with our team members. This hands-on exposure gave them a firsthand understanding of our studio culture, collaborative work environment, and day-to-day production processes.
Overall, the industrial visit was an enriching and informative experience for the students, offering practical knowledge, industry clarity, and motivation as they prepare to enter the VFX and media industry. Basilic Fly Studio remains committed to fostering strong academic–industry relationships and supporting the growth of future creative professionals.
