Basilic Fly Studio is steadily upscaling its teams, strengthening delivery capabilities, and expanding across locations to support bigger, more complex global work. As we continue this journey, we are delighted to welcome Venupogal A back to Basilic Fly Studio as 2D Supervisor at our Pune studio.
Venu’s return is especially meaningful. Having been part of Basilic Fly Studio earlier, this is not just a new chapter, but a homecoming. He has been one of the key contributors in helping highlight the RP department during his earlier journey with BFS, and his comeback reflects both continuity and growth in the studio’s evolution.
With 19+ years of experience in the motion pictures and film industry, Venu brings with him a strong blend of hands-on 2D craft, production understanding, and leadership maturity. His background spans Rotopaint and 2D Compositing, backed by an M.Sc. in Computer Software Engineering and a VFX Diploma.
Over the years, he has contributed across a wide variety of formats and workflows, including films, web series, commercials, VR, 2D Paint & Comp, native stereo work, and stereoscopy film post-production. Alongside his production expertise, he has also built strong capabilities in bidding and scheduling, coordination, resource management, and VFX workflow management bringing clarity, structure, and consistency to fast-moving pipelines.
His journey also includes valuable international studio exposure, including his time with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Sydney. He later worked with Framestore, Vancouver, contributing to major productions such as Rebel Moon: Part One, Rebel Moon: Part Two, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, as well as projects including Deadpool & Wolverine and Heart of Stone.
What stands out most about Venu is his ability to lead with consistency and care while protecting the quality of delivery. Across his career, he has managed teams at scale, including supervising large Rotopaint teams in previous roles, while driving efficiency, quality control, and predictable outcomes. His strength lies not only in execution, but also in mentoring artists, building team confidence, and creating processes that help delivery stay sharp under pressure.
As Basilic Fly Studio continues to grow, our focus remains clear: to build strong teams, strengthen leadership at every level, and deliver world-class work with consistency. Venu’s addition to BFS Pune reflects that direction by bringing in experience, mentorship, and the kind of structured leadership that helps teams scale smoothly while maintaining high creative standards.
Speaking about his return, Venu shared:
“Joining BFS feels like coming back home. I’m happy to have been part of the initial growth journey of both the Chennai and Pune locations. Now, stepping into a different challenge and role to lead the talented Pune creative team, I’m truly looking forward to what lies ahead.”
We are excited to have him back on board and look forward to the impact he will continue to create through leadership, artist development, and delivery excellence.
Welcome back to Basilic Fly Studio, Venupogal A.
