Basilic Fly Studio at CII Big Picture Summit 2025: Shaping the Future of India’s VFX Landscape

December 2nd, 2025 — Mumbai Basilic Fly Studio had the opportunity to be part of the CII Big Picture Summit 2025 held in Mumbai, an annual flagship platform that brings together leaders from films, television, OTT, animation, gaming and VFX to discuss where the industry is headed. Representing Basilic Fly Studio at the summit were Balakrishnan R, Yogalakshmi Sundaram, Amir Shahinsha, Zameer Hussain and Yuvasri, joining policymakers, broadcasters, platforms, investors and several leading VFX companies in India under one roof. This year’s summit was themed “The AI Era – Bridging Creativity & Commerce”, reflecting how artificial intelligence and new technologies are reshaping content creation, production workflows and business models. In his inaugural address, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, spoke about India’s rich storytelling legacy and reminded the audience that, despite this strength, India currently holds only around 2% of the global media and entertainment market. The clear message was that the industry now has a chance to turn creative potential into globally recognised work – provided it embraces technology, builds skills at scale and focuses on long-term growth. One of the key announcements at the summit was the launch of the Global Media & Entertainment Investor Meet in collaboration with WAVES Bazaar, hosted as part of the 12th CII Big Picture Summit. This initiative is designed to connect international investors with high-potential Indian companies across film, streaming, animation, gaming and VFX through curated one-on-one meetings and a structured marketplace. For VFX studios in India, including Basilic Fly Studio, this kind of platform signals a strong intent to organise the ecosystem, bring in global capital and open more doors for large-scale, high-quality projects. Industry updates at the summit also highlighted a growing focus on specialised institutes and skilling initiatives to address talent gaps across film, OTT and AVGC, reinforcing how important well-trained artists and technicians will be in the years ahead. For Basilic Fly Studio, it was encouraging to see VFX and AVGC repeatedly called out as central to India’s media and entertainment growth story. As a VFX studio in India that has grown from a small team into a multi-location setup working on global titles, many of the points discussed from AI-enabled workflows and training pipelines to investor connect and policy support, felt closely connected to the realities we see every day. Being in the room with other VFX companies in India, animation houses and post-production partners also gave us space to listen, exchange ideas and understand how different parts of the ecosystem are preparing for the future. The team will be bringing these insights back into our internal discussions from how we continue to strengthen our pipeline and learning culture for artists, to how we align with the evolving expectations of global clients and partners. As India moves towards a more organised, ambitious and globally visible media and entertainment industry, Basilic Fly Studio will keep focusing on strong visual storytelling, dependable delivery and long-term relationships, contributing in our own way to the growing landscape of VFX companies in India.

Basilic Bytes – Understanding Values Together

Basilic Bytes – Understanding Values Together November 13th 2025, Chennai This Basilic Bytes session took us into something deep but very close to our everyday life. We spoke about values. How we behave. How we think. How we show ourselves to the world. Every person has their own way of presenting who they are, and these small behaviours slowly become our identity. Think of someone like Gandhi. What comes to mind is peace and non violence. That is the magic of values. They speak for a person even before we do. This time, the session was led by Tushar Kant Ojha, Head of Human Resources at Basilic Fly Studio. He opened the topic in such a simple and clear way that it made us think about our own choices and behaviour. He connected psychology, real life stories, and examples in a way that kept all of us curious. Earlier, we had a Basilic Bytes session by Anbu Dakshinamoorthy, Head of Production, on the Johari Window. In the middle of that session, Tushar walked in and added his point of view. Instead of interrupting, the session became even better. Anbu welcomed him and both of them spoke together. That moment itself taught us a value. When people work with respect and friendliness, even heavy topics feel light. After that day, Tushar invited us to his cabin and explained more about the psychology of values. He also said he wanted to take the next session. We gave him time to prepare. After many days, he called us back and shared something big. His presentation was so detailed that he could not fit it into a single class. We joked that if Avatar can have a sequel, we can try one too. So we split the whole topic into two parts. Part one about individuals. Part two about organizations. Tushar loved the idea, and the planning began. Day One – Values of an Individual The first session started with a simple icebreaker to make everyone comfortable. Then Tushar began the topic. He shared many stories and examples, keeping the room interested from start to finish. The online attendees were equally active. The session felt alive in every department. He spoke about people like Ratan Tata, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Nelson Mandela. He explained how their values shaped who they are in history. He also spoke about people who carried negative values, like Hitler and Saddam Hussein. The message was clear. Values decide how people remember us. Before ending, Tushar gave us a task: Think about your own values. What defines you as a person. Day Two – Values of an Organization The second session quickly became everyone’s favourite. Here, the topic shifted from “me” to “us”. Tushar explained how an organization also has values, just like a person. He spoke about famous companies like Aditya Birla, Microsoft, Google, and Pixar. Through them, he showed how strong values shape strong cultures. Then he explained something important. The core values of Basilic Fly Studio: Excellence, Create, Belong, and Thrive. He made us understand that these values are not written for decoration. They grow through the people working in the studio. Each person plays a part in building what Basilic Fly Studio stands for. To end the session, Tushar shared a small story of a guru and a student holding a butterfly. The message stayed with everyone. What you hold can be crushed or allowed to grow. The choice is always in your hands.________________________________________________________________________ These two days reminded us that values are not big speeches or complicated words. They are simple behaviours in our daily life. They grow when we practice them. They fade when we ignore them. And they become powerful when we live by them. Tushar ended by reminding us that every person at Basilic Fly Studio shapes the identity of the studio. Through our work, our kindness, our discipline, and our creativity, we build a culture we can be proud of. What we hold today becomes our future tomorrow. More Basilic Bytes sessions are on the way, and the learning continues.

Basilic Esports Presents: BGMI Tournament 2025

The energy inside Basilic Fly Studio was different that morning. Monitors glowed brighter, teams whispered strategies, and the excitement felt almost electric. Since 2013, Basilic Fly Studio, also known as Basilic Studio LTD, has encouraged creativity of every kind. From animation to visual effects, the studio always finds new ways to bring ideas to life. This time, that spark led us into a brand new arena, the world of gaming. After months of planning and some healthy debates, we introduced Basilic Esports, our first-ever internal gaming event. And what better way to kick it off than with India’s favorite battleground, BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India).  The Game BeginsWe chose the Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode, fast-paced, thrilling, and built for action. Twelve teams from across our Chennai studio, both artists and support staff, geared up to prove their skills. You could feel the tension as the countdown began: 3…2…1… and the virtual bullets started flying.Knockout rounds trimmed the teams from twelve to six, and two wildcard entries joined back based on total kills. Eight teams fought in the Quarter Finals, the crowd around the monitors growing louder with every headshot and comeback. The Heat RisesAs the tournament moved to the Semi Finals, every match became a story. Shouts echoed through the floor, flank left, grenade out, and laughter followed every narrow escape. By the end of the round, two teams stood tall: The Spartans (Nagaraj & Sarath) and Lightning Warriors (Kishore & Rajamani). The Grand FinaleWe decided to make the final match big, live-screened across the studio, best of three format, lights dimmed, and the audience on edge. The Spartans started strong, rushing into battle with fearless teamwork, taking the first round 40–21.Then came the twist. The Lightning Warriors flipped the script in round two. They drew the Spartans into their zone, set up ambushes, and stole the win 40–33. The crowd roared, chairs creaked, and hearts raced. The final round was pure chaos, kill for kill, point for point. 1–1, 3–5, 7–7, 10–11. You could hear gasps every time the scoreboard flashed. Then, out of nowhere, the Spartans changed their approach, quiet moves, surprise attacks, and perfect timing. Within minutes, it was over. Victory to the Spartans, champions of the BGMI Tournament 2025. Celebration and BeyondThe winners received their awards from Zameer Hussain and Amir Shahinsha, surrounded by cheers and applause. But beyond the trophies, it was the spirit of the event that mattered, artists, gamers, and friends coming together to share one screen, one goal, and endless laughs. The Basilic Esports BGMI Tournament 2025 proved that competition can be creative too. It is only the beginning for Basilic Fly Studio, and the next round of gaming is already loading.

Basilic Bytes – AI Tools in Rotoscopy by Ashique T P

15.10.2025 | ChennaiBasilic Bytes started as a space for learning and sharing among the team at Basilic Fly Studio. It was never just about skill building. It was about open conversations, new perspectives, and the joy of learning together. Over time, it turned into a place where people freely shared ideas and experiences.A great example was during the Caricature Art Session. While Syed was explaining face anatomy, Kannan jumped in to share his own thoughts. Instead of getting interrupted, Syed welcomed him and they continued the discussion together. What began as one person’s session turned into a friendly exchange of knowledge. That is exactly what Basilic Bytes is meant to be.As the sessions grew, we started exploring different areas of learning from technical skills to personal growth. One of the most interesting sessions was on The Johari Window, led by Anbukumaran Dakshinamoorthy, who spoke about self-awareness, blind spots, and how we understand each other. Then came an unexpected surprise. We got a call from the Head of Studio, Mr. Amir Shahinsha. We rushed to his cabin, wondering what it could be about. He said something we didn’t expect. He wanted to take a session himself.Amir wanted to lead a Basilic Bytes session. He smiled and said, “Let’s do a session on Body Language and Gestures.”That one line got us all moving. Posters were designed, invites went out, permissions were arranged, and the technical setup was ready. Everything was set for Thursday morning. The session started a bit late due to a small sound issue, but that delay helped more people join in, including supervisors and leads. Soon, the room and the online meeting were filled with excitement. When Amir started, the energy shifted immediately. He spoke about how body language can make communication more powerful. He explained how simple actions like posture, eye contact, and gestures shape how others see us. He used real examples, mixing in humor and stories that made everyone relate and laugh. He showed how a simple change in expression could make someone appear confident, approachable, or unsure. The audience was fully engaged, responding to every point with smiles and laughter. Our newly joined CG Supervisor, Arun Poojary, summed it up perfectly:“A deeply engaging session on body language from Amir that highlighted how mindful communication extends far beyond words. Insightful and truly thought provoking!” The session ended with a short film that beautifully showed how a single expression can change the meaning of an entire moment. It left everyone with something to think about, that body language speaks louder than words. Amir later shared his own thoughts about the experience:“This week, it was my turn to take the stage at Basilic Bytes, and the topic I chose was Workplace Body Language and Gestures.I was a little nervous at first because it is a topic that can easily get too serious. But once the session started, the energy in the room was amazing. Everyone was engaged from the start, and that helped me relax and enjoy it.I tried to keep it light and interactive, and it was great to see people laughing and connecting with the topic. The best part was when someone asked about a point I couldn’t cover due to time. That’s when I knew they were really listening. It felt great to see everyone take away something useful for their daily work. Thanks to the Basilic Bytes team for organizing these sessions and to everyone who joined. I truly enjoyed the experience.” By the end, it was clear that communication is not just about what we say but how we express it. Sometimes, a small gesture can say more than a hundred words.
